Real Salt Lake vs New York Red Bulls
Rio Tinto Stadium gets christened as Real Salt Lake take on the New York Red Bulls. The first goal came on a save from Beckerman that left a sitting duck for Dave van den Bergh to latch on and fire a low strike through several RSL players. However, Jamison Olave continued the trend of center backs finishing on inaugural home games (Brian Dunseth scored the first goal in Rice Eccles) with a corner kick from Javier Morales that bounced right to Olave's legs in the middle of the box.

Robbie Findley misses two early chances, each going wide of each post. However, Findley makes up for the near-goals by setting up Yura Movsisyan with a flick-on. Yura just rolled the ball past Jon Conway for the only first-half goal. Red Bulls answered quickly in the 2nd half by a controversial no-call, when Olave fell down as he was shielding the ball from Juan Pablo Angel. Angel quickly got to the ball and put past Nick Rimando for the equalizer. Later on, a whiff by Jorge Rojas gave Dane Richards a chance on a volley.
