Real Salt Lake vs New York Red Bulls

Rio Tinto Stadium gets christened as Real Salt Lake take on the New York Red Bulls. The first goal came on a save from Beckerman that left a sitting duck for Dave van den Bergh to latch on and fire a low strike through several RSL players. However, Jamison Olave continued the trend of center backs finishing on inaugural home games (Brian Dunseth scored the first goal in Rice Eccles) with a corner kick from Javier Morales that bounced right to Olave's legs in the middle of the box. The rest of the game saw a lot of hectic play as nerves seemed to be taking over, and Juan Pietravallo got sent off late in the game as he was attempting to play a ball with his foot and kicked Clint Mathis on the noggin'.
