Which RSL will finish the season in October?

Real Salt Lake has split up the season into three different trends (2 negative 1 positive).

The first 9 games of the season saw a slow starting team trying to gel. The first full off-season for Kreis and Lagerway featured more than half of the players not from the previous off-season roster. So, the slugglish start can be attributable to the team getting used of playing with one-another.

8 Points in 9 Games

The next 10 games of the season featured the team in top form. With Olave winning the center back position from Matias Mantilla, Real Salt Lake were able to post 2 separate 3-game streaks without giving up a goal. Not to mention, they were able to go the middle 8 games with only giving up 2 goals.

19 Points in 10 Games

The next 6 games featured a team that had lost its form and some of the passion (at times) after an 18-day break from league action. The defensive lapses during this period seemed to be glaring problems. Even the steady and smooth Olave was finding himself making some costly errors.

4 Points in 6 Games

The latest game against the Earthquakes showcased a team ready for a turnaround. One that felt the urgency in results needed now before the playoffs are a forgotten cause. And, the recent surgance of newcomer Will Johnson and reserve-star Yura Movsisyan seem to point the future towards a happy ending for the RSL faithful.

So, the biggest question is what will RSL do after this big victory over San Jose? Will they falter as the regular season draws to a close to continue the trend of the previous 6 games? Or will they open up a 4th chapter to this season? Bringing the playoffs to the Rio Tinto.

Let me know your thoughts on how the season will finish from here.
