Real Salt Lake vs DC United Preview

Real Salt Lake is coming off of a disappointing defeat against Chivas, with two of our former non-contributors (Atiba Harris & Alecko Eskandarian) netting the game-winning and game-winning-extending (yes, I made that up) goals. DC United is coming from a very heavy schedule over the last two weeks. DCU thrashed the so far unimproved Toronto FC, but they got knocked out of the Champion's Cup in mid-week. Over the last two years, RSL has got the better of DCU by posting a 2-1-1 record against them.

Real Salt Lake will be looking to continue their great midfield possession. However, they will need a forward to step up and compliment Deuchar well. Findley's touches were off, and he was getting run off the ball a little too easy. Movsisyan came off the bench with several dangerous chances. One chance was only kept out of the net by a diving Brad Guzan. Espindola seems to let his emotions play the better of him. However, there is no denying about his technique is the best among the forwards. I expect to see Deuchar and Movsisyan combining up top, with a change in the midfield. I think the critics are being pretty harsh on Talley having nothing to offer our starting line-up. He has great intensity, and leadership, but I will agree with the majority and say he will be on the bench at the start of the game with Sturgis taking his place in the starting line-up. Beckerman and Morales are pretty much penciled-in at the moment. I think Andy may get the start over Kovalenko, because of his ball control that will be helpful against a pressing DCU. I think the back-line will be the same. However, I am expected to see Olave and/or Beltran getting time, if anyone is weak in the back-line. Ian Joy really needs to prove his worth this game, by minimizing the crosses from his side. Plus, Wingert will have his hands full with Fred, who is in great form right now.

I am going to say a 2-1 victory for RSL this game. DCU seems to be burned out from 5 games in two weeks, and I think Gallardo is still trying to gel with the team. RSL will get goals from Deuchar, and I am expecting our first goal from the midfield. Plus, I expect to see another great possession day from our side, as well. Don't be surprised to see Talley in the 2nd half help to shore up our defensive half of the field.

Feel free to show your concerns with Movsisyan at forward or Sturgis taking Talley's position.
