Positives

Well, I got some great news this afternoon. I was accepted into Google's Summer of Code for Drupal. First, I would like to thank you all for the interest shown to me with this site. It boosted me to put a lot of effort into the site, and it was used as a showcase for my application.

With this positive news for me, I thought I would make a post for the positive stats this season for Real Salt Lake. Stats were gathered from MLS Stats.

  • Offseason movements: Three of the top 4 ranked players on this site were offseason acquisitions.
  • Goal Differential: +1
  • Kyle Beckerman is one of 6 players to have multi-goal games.
  • So far, we have improved in Goals, Assists, Shots and Shots on Goal in Team Rankings from 2007 to this year.
  • Javier Morales leads the league in Corner Kicks (16).
  • RSL is tied in 4th place for most cards given. But no one on our team has more than 1 card received. You can figure out if that is a plus or not.
  • Got 4 points from the first two home games, haven't done that since our inaugural season. Hopefully, we continue what happened in 2005 by winning the next two games at home.
  • On average, Nick Rimando has only faced 4.25 shots per game (2nd least behind Jon Conway, Minimum: 125 minutes). Last year, Rimando faced around 6.78 shots per game (Most in 2007, Minimum: 1000 minutes).

I wish one more positive I could list was 12 points in the first 4 games, but a third of that is ok, I guess. There is probably some more positive stats out there, but I am out of time. Feel free to post your own positive stats below, or negative stats if you like it that way.

Congrats on the GSoC slot.

Congrats on the GSoC slot. I'm the Ruby Central coordinator, so I know there's some serious contention for the limited number of slots Google provides.

Thanks for the write up of some positives for this point in the season. Other than the one win against DC and 'playing better' it can be hard to see the silver lining.
